The Southwestern Indiana Daylily Society (SWIDS) was formed in Oct, 1996 at a meeting called by Paul and Judi Aucoin, Art and Rae Schroeder and Don and Lea Ann Williams.
Don and Lea Ann had known Art and Rae for several years as their first daylilies came from Schroeder's Daylilies. Don and Lea Ann met Paul and Judi via an Internet contact and became friends visiting back and forth between their gardens.
The first meeting was attended by 18 prospective members and the club now has over 100 members and is growing each month. It took a real spurt in growth during and right after our Plant Sales of '97, '98 and '99 and 2000 held in June at the Washington Square Mall.
We normally meet the third Thursday of every month at Bethel United Church of Christ, 3029 N. Greenriver Road, at 6:00 PM. Check the program page for specific times and dates. We have had some great programs and have some more great ones coming up in the future months. Check out our past programs and future programs on our program page.
Our club is a member of the AHS (American Hemerocallis Society) and we are in Region 2 which consists of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois. Several of our members participate in regional meetings as well as attend the National AHS conventions.
