SWIDS Asset Plant Program

Southwestern Indiana Daylily Society, Inc. started an Asset Plant Program in 1998 to put newer daylilies in the hands of our members, thus increasing their knowledge about modern daylilies.

The Asset Plant Program uses funds from our annual sales to purchase newer plants with the emphasis on introductions when possible.  The members who qualify get new Asset plants to take home and to grow for 2 years, bringing back any increases.

When the plants are returned for auction, if a plant has produced more than five fans, then a double fan will placed in the club garden at the Sheriff's Training Center. The remaining fans will be auctioned to members who use points or dollars to bid on these plants.  These "points" are acquired by volunteering for the organization.

The distribution of new Asset Plants and the auction of 2-year old Asset Plant increases are controlled by a set of guidelines established by the organization.  The Asset Committee and Points Committee help to monitor the activities required.  Changes are approved by the Board and by the membership.  Click here for the current guidelines.

This program has proven to be very successful in getting newer daylilies to our members.  Many members bring these scapes to our accredited AHS Show held every summer, therefore the public is able to view newer varieties sooner, as well.
